Scouting is a program of fun activities that give youth the new experiences that build confidence and values.
Cub Scouts is a family program for youth ages 5-11, or Kindergarten through 5th Grade. You and your child will have fun together with planned lessons, outdoor adventures, and volunteering in the community. Older youth can continue in Scouts BSA, Venturing and Sea Scout programs.
Scouting reinforces your family’s values and helps your child understand the importance of community, nature and helping others.

Who we are
Cub Scouts is a program for youth in grades K-5. We are part of the Boy Scouts of America (also called Scouting America) in Cascade Pacific Council.
Pack 169 has served the communities of Forest Grove and Cornelius, Oregon, since 1951.
Our charter organization is Holbrook Masonic Lodge #30 of Forest Grove. We meet in Forest Grove at Holbrook Lodge, 2019 Main St., 6:30-7:30 p.m. most Wednesdays, and meet at various outdoor locations once or twice a month all year long.
Our Leaders
Cub Scouts is a parent-led program. Many of our leaders and parents are former scouts, and bring decades of outdoor and leadership experience to our program.
Derrick Sturgill, Cubmaster
A lifelong adventurer, Derrick has been a scout parent since 2013. He completed National Wood Badge training, earning his beads in 2022. He is a trained leader with a wide range of woodcraft skills.
Derrick has recently added Cubmaster to his long list leadership and volunteer experiences.
Derrick works in healthcare and enjoys history and gaming.
Heather Sturgill, Committee Chair
Heather began scouting with her sons in 2013. She has served many different volunteer roles in scouting. She completed National Wood Badge training, earning her beads in 2023.
Heather is a communications specialist for local government. She also serves as a public information officer for emergency response.
When not working and scouting, Heather is an avid reader and knitter. She enjoys a variety of outdoors activites and fandoms.
