Pack Update: Week of Sept. 25

Hello Pack!

Wednesday, Sept. 25 is our first Adventure meeting of the year and we have AWARDS! We will be doing the Bobcat Adventure for all ranks. Part of this meeting will be everyone meeting together and part will be broken into dens. Please let us know if you can’t make this meeting and work out how to make up these requirements.

Here is an outline of the meeting. All adults/den chiefs are asked to support our scouts and help with the dens.

TOGETHER

1. Play Simons Says with Scout Motto, Sign, Salute and Handshake.

a. Learn the Scout Motto: Talk about what it means to do your best.

b. Learn the Scout Sign: Talk about what it means and what to do.

c. Learn the Scout Handshake.

d. Learn the Scout Salute.

2. Learn the Scout Oath and Law.

a. Lions have it read to them. Talk about what it means.

b. Tigers, Wolves and Bears play a puzzle game to help learn it.

c. Webelos and Arrow of Light memorize it.

In DENS

3. Get to know the members of your den.

a. Learn each other’s names.

b. Learn about each other by playing a game, such as Me Too game: https://www.scouting.org/cub-scout-activities/me-too-name-game/

4. Code of Conduct

a. Lions, Tigers and Wolves talk about what it means to be friendly.

b. Wolves, Bears, Webelos and Arrow of Light create a Den Code of Conduct.

5. A den flag is a craft that can bring your den together by getting to know everyone’s name and having a symbol that everyone has a part in making.

a. Use materials provided to create a flag that includes a symbol or name for every person involved.

b. The flag will be something they can recognize, be proud of and know where to go during meetings.

c. Include something about each person, or name, or handprint.

6. For Bears and Webelos, discuss Denner responsibilities and choose the order for when Scouts will serve as Denner.

7. For Arrow of Light, discuss the role of patrol leader, create a patrol name and elect a patrol leader.

Saturday, Sept. 28 We have a booth at Oktoberfest! We’ll be on 21st Avenue near College Way. Please let me know when you plan to help out with the booth. We will have both first aid kits for sale (this counts for fundraising credit!) and a carnival game with prizes!

Event is Noon-7pm. Our setup time has been moved to 10:30am. Please wear uniforms if possible, or t-shirts (unless you’re volunteering or partaking in the beer garden, please.)

SIGN UP TO SELL FIRST AID KITS!

Each family should commit to selling about 10 kits. We have 75 kits left to sell. We will also have a booth at Oktoberfest to sell any remaining kits.

Please plan to have all money from sales and left over kits to the pack by Wednesday, Oct. 30.

NOTE: If you cannot or do not want to sell kits, you can pay $100 in pack dues per scout. Either selling kits or paying dues is required.Once the kits are sold or dues are paid, your scout will receive a red hoodie to put their patches on and continue to receive awards.

Wednesday, Oct. 2 Is our Committee Meeting. Scouts are encouraged to bring (quiet) games to share.

The meeting agenda will include budget, den leader support and Light Parade.
